Throughout the 2023/2024 financial year, the African Palliative Care Association remained steadfast in advancing its 2020-2030 strategic goals. Key achievements included strengthening palliative care integration into health systems, expanding access to essential medicines, and enhancing workforce capacity through training and scholarships. Notably, APCA engaged in high-level advocacy, fostering collaborations with WHO and other global partners while also preparing for its 20th anniversary celebrations. The organization’s financial stewardship remained strong, evidenced by another unqualified audit. As APCA looks ahead, it remains committed to scaling up innovative solutions and partnerships to improve palliative care access across Africa.
Throughout the 2022/2023 financial year, the African Palliative Care Association made significant progress towards its 2020-2030 strategic goals. This was a special year as we organised the 4th African Ministers of Health Session, the 7th International African Palliative Care Conference, and a General Assembly in Kampala, Uganda, where a new board of directors was elected. Conducted in a hybrid format, these gatherings drew a diverse group of attendees, both physically and online, offering valuable insights and fostering a sense of community within the African and global palliative care network. We extend our gratitude to the outgoing board, led by Mr. Andre Wagner, and warmly welcome the new directors, looking forward to their contributions.
